About Me

Born a creative, I've been writing poetry and songs since I was eight years old, when my musical parents realized I too had a voice. A love for the written word has fueled my creativity, my pursuits, and my peace for as far back as I can remember.

I'm a woman who dreams of joy and justice and writes about the intersection of Black love and Black pain in search of the two. I write stories I crave to read, stories for and about Black women. 

I'm based in Richmond, Virginia where I was born, raised, and now live with my husband and our youngest daughter. A Senior Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion Manager for a financial institution, I lead the global strategy for the company's employee networks supporting 180k+ leaders and members. In addition to writing novels and being an avid reader, I'm a singer-songwriter, who loves a good cry nearly as much as I enjoy a good laugh. I’d spend a picture-perfect day alone on a private beach with a hardcover book, my iPad, and an Apple Music playlist on shuffle.
